Context
StroyMegaMarket is a marketplace for building materials, tools, and equipment, with distinct workflows for buyers, sellers, and organizations. As co-founder and CTO, I hired the team and developed the frontend and backend from scratch. Together with the team, I brought the product to its MVP launch.
The challenge: connect purchasing and sales
The task was to build a product from scratch, connecting a product catalog with store offers and the subsequent order, payment, and delivery workflows. Business buyers needed a dedicated procurement workspace, while sellers needed tools to manage their offers.
The first milestone was an MVP launch. The implementation brought together the storefront, user workspaces, and the marketplace’s backend workflows.
My contribution: hiring and building from scratch
As co-founder and CTO, I handled team hiring while remaining hands-on, working on both the frontend and backend from the start of the project.
My personal contribution combined building the team with writing code. The MVP launch was a shared product development outcome.
Building the marketplace
The frontend includes a catalog and search, a cart, checkout, and workspaces for stores and organizations. Excel imports support catalog population and updates.
The backend model separates products from individual stores’ offers. The implementation connects order processing, T-Bank payment integration, shipment and delivery workflows, notifications, and file storage.
Architecture and infrastructure
The frontend uses React and TypeScript with React Router. MobX and TanStack Query support interface state and API data, with shared components provided by a UI library.
The NestJS and Fastify backend is organized into domain modules. MongoDB stores the data, Redis provides caching, and RabbitMQ handles service messaging. Docker and GitLab CI/CD support builds and deployment.
The project moved from local MinIO storage to Timeweb S3. It retained the S3-compatible MinIO client, with Nginx routing file requests to the external storage service.
The outcome: an MVP launched
The product progressed from building the frontend and backend from scratch to launching an MVP. This milestone brought together my work as a co-founder, team hiring, and hands-on marketplace development.
Behind the outcomes
In a venture of my own, technology leadership and hands-on engineering go together. My contribution to StroyMegaMarket was hiring the team and building both sides of the application from scratch; the outcome of this stage is a launched MVP.
